Door & Window Repairs in Byron Bay

Doors that close, windows that latch.

In humid weather timber swells, and half the doors in the house start to stick. It's one of the most common small jobs on the coast.

Doors

A door that rubs on the frame, won't latch, or has dropped on loose hinges. Often it's a case of tightening or repacking hinges, adjusting the strike plate, or easing a swollen edge. Sometimes the frame has moved and the fix is different. We'll tell you which it is before cutting anything off a door that can't be put back.

Windows

Windows that stick, won't stay open, or won't lock. Worn catches, stays and handles can usually be replaced. Broken glass is a glazier's job and we'll say so.

Fly screens and small fittings

Door stops, handles, hinges, and small hardware are all easy to swap while we're there.

If the door problem is the lock, see lock repairs. Most people put this on a longer list. See handyman repairs and how quotes work.

Worth knowing

Why do my doors stick in summer?

Timber absorbs moisture and swells in humid weather. It often settles again in drier months, so it is worth looking at the cause before planing anything.

Can you replace a whole door?

Ask us. Fitting a standard replacement may be fine, and anything structural or unusual we will tell you honestly about.
